You didn’t think I’d let you finish Pizza Night without dessert, did you?
If you’ve read my guide to hosting an elegant pizza night, you know I’m a huge believer that the board makes the meal. Usually, we talk about savory spreads—charcuterie, cheese, ribeyes. But today, I want to show you the sweeter side of Big Wood Boards.
We are making a Chocolate Hazelnut & Berry Dessert Pizza, and we are serving it on the Round Walnut Board.
Why Walnut? Because the deep, chocolate-brown tones of the wood complement the dessert perfectly. It creates a rich, moody aesthetic that looks incredibly sophisticated. Plus, the bright red strawberries and the dusting of white powdered sugar pop against the dark wood in a way that is absolutely Instagram-worthy.
The beauty of a dessert pizza is that it looks like you spent hours in a patisserie, but it actually takes about 10 minutes. It’s the perfect interactive end to a dinner party or a fun surprise for the kids on movie night.

The Method:
Here is why I serve this directly on the board:
1. The Perfect Frame: Using a round board for a round pizza is visually satisfying. It mimics the plating you’d see at a high-end pizzeria.
2. The Contrast: Look at the photo. The dark Walnut wood creates a seamless, elegant look with the chocolate, while the powdered sugar stands out brightly against the dark grain. It looks warmer and more inviting than a cold ceramic plate.
3. Communal Eating: Dessert is better when it's shared. Placing the round board in the center of the coffee table or dining table invites everyone to reach in and grab a slice. It keeps the conversation going.
